Six digital images, dimensions variable
A series of six digital images features a street in Seoul blocked by police buses. A person holds a book in the air. As the series unfolds another person in the background approaches the person in the foreground with a red sign. The person in the back holds a red sign to the height of the book.
While the book instructs its reader in the culture of Korean ink drawings and pictorial traditions the red sign calls upon President Park Geun-Hye to resign immediately.
The drawing book and the protest sign meet on a strange level and thus come together at this moment. The six images document this instant.
Behind the police buses is the Blue House, the residence of the President. In winter 2016 several million people demonstrated in front of this house for the dismissal of the government under President Park Geun-Hye.
The photos were taken at night on December 10th towards the end of the day of protest. A court confirmed the impeachment on March 10th 2017 and removed Park Geun-Hye from office.
